Just read Regina O'Melveny's book, "The Book of Madness and Cures". It was a mystery right up my alley. Taking place in 16th century Venice, Gabriella Mondini goes in search of her missing father. The adventure leads her across many countries all while following his letters written over a ten year period. It was a fascinating book filled with mystery and period essence. One of the main things that struck me was how detailed the story was yet easy to read. I never felt any disconnect with the main character at all throughout the book. I loved going back in time in this adventure.
